Dad's Den and the Palm
If you like to read Dad's Den but do not have the time to do so in front of the computer and
you have a Palm Pilot you can easily take Dad's Den with you.
I use a PC program called iSiloWeb and a Palm reader both from www.isilo.com.
The PC program is free and the reader costs $12.50. The process of getting a web site
downloaded to the Palm is made simple with these tools. You create a "channel" in
iSiloWeb which consists of the web site address (URL), in our case www.dadsden.net, the depth of the links to follow (in our case 2 gets the whole site), whether you want
to download pictures, and a couple of optional parameters. Next log onto the Internet
with your PC and press the synchronize button. Within seconds the site is converted
and ready for download to the Palm. The next time you synchronize your Palm with
your PC, Dad's Den will be available in its entirety, with working links and even
pictures. Even though the Dad's Den site was not specifically designed to be viewed on a
Palm, it still looks attractive and is just as easy to use as the PC edition. Of course,
you can use this process to grab almost any site or article you see on the Web for
off-line reading.
So next time you find yourself waiting in the doctors' office or having your tires rotated
why not take Dad's Den along?
Dad's Den thanks Tom Skrovanek from Houston, Texas for this helpful tip.
